At a high level to get grips with UX is pretty easy all you really need to do is learn and apply the user centred design process:

o Research stage (Assessing the current situation and getting to know your user):

§ Learn about UX research approaches like ethnographic research

o Concept/Analysis stage (Assimilate and model all you have learned in stage 1):

§ Learn about personas and user stories and why we use them

o Design stage (Start building your designs and prototypes)

§ Learn about design UX heuristics

§ Learn about information architecture

§ Learn about design patterns

§ Learn about iterative design

o Testing stage:

§ Learn about Prototyping and UX testing
